Christen Sveaas Art Foundation: The Travel Bureau, Selected by Paulina Olowska

14 January 2022 – 8 May 2022

Paulina Olowska reveals the true nature of a gallery as a travel bureau, where works of art are portals into a myriad destinations imagined by artists.

Her installation of works from the Christen Sveaas Art Foundation is inspired by Orbis, the largest and longest running travel agency in Poland. Founded in 1920, its offices, staff and famously alluring posters offered prospective travellers a dream of escape. Olowska thinks of painting as ‘a beautiful metaphor for travel itself, a longing for a place.’

Olowska’s multifaceted practice embraces all the arts from painting to graphics, stage and costume design, performance and activism. Her monumental figurative paintings celebrate modern women pictured in magazine style poses against backdrops of utopian scenarios.

The display includes work by: Marina Abramović, Brian Alfred, Hurvin Anderson, Gillian Ayres, Monica Bonvicini, Skuja Braden, Rosson Crow, Ida Ekblad, Arne Ekeland, Berta Fischer, Till Gerhard, Rodney Graham, Thore Heramb, Danny McDonald, Paulina Olowska, Laura Owens, Pierre et et Gilles, Johannes Rian, Julia Rommel, Ed Ruscha, Eirik Sæther, Caragh Thuring, Frederik Værslev, Charline Von Heyl, Jakob Weidemann and Oluf Wold-Torne.

From September 09th to 29th , Till Gerhard, Henning Kles and Heiko Müller will meet for the third time for an exhibition at Feinkunst Krüger. At intervals of about 7 years, these exhibitions take place, but for the first time in the new, larger rooms.

For the Vernissage on Friday, 07. September 2018 from 8.00 pm we cordially invite you.

After 2003 and 2010, the 3 artists exhibit for the third time in this constellation at Feinkunst Krüger. Since the beginning of their careers in 2003 a lot has happened since then and all 3 have had successful exhibitions all over the world (as you can see from the impressive Vitae). Now they introduce their latest work and let us participate in their painterly development.
